Haiti earthquake: Update
Further to Public Safety Canada Daily Infrastructure Report DIR10-018, as of 08:30 EST on January 28, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada indicated that2,020 Canadians have been located; 143 Canadians are unaccounted for; 2,931 have been evacuated on 32 flights; and 21 have been confirmed dead. Also, the U.S. Geological Survey indicated that a 4.1-magnitude earthquake occurred 30 kilometres southeast ofPort-au-Prince on January 27.
On January 27, National Defence and the Canadian Forces (CF) reported that 1,395 personnel are now deployed on Operation HESTIA and 2,582 Canadian citizens have been repatriated. A total of 1,108,888.7 kilograms goods have been delivered by CF airlift.

DFAIT provides more information on Canada’s response to the earthquake in Haiti, including assistance for Canadians in Haiti. DFAIT also provides more information on how the Government of Canada responds to natural disasters abroad.
National Defence and the Canadian Forces provides information on Operation HESTIA, which is the Canadian Forces participation in humanitarian operations conducted in response to the earthquake in Haiti.
The Canadian International Development Agency provides more information on how Canada is providing humanitarian assistance in response to the earthquake in Haiti.
Some areas still without power in southern Saskatchewan
Further to Public Safety Canada Daily Infrastructure Report DIR10-018, the Daily Gleaner reported that 200 SaskPower customers, mostly farm families in the Rockglen and Coronach areas, were still without power. Roads that were impassable have largely been cleared of snow, although there was still work to be done to clear shoulders and prevent drifting. The cities of Saskatoon and Regina reported that major arterial roads have been cleared and the focus is now on clearing transit routes.
