Migrant Vessel
The foreign vessel MV Sun Sea arrived in Canadian territorial waters on August 12, 2010. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police along with personnel from the Canada Border Services Agency, with close support of the Canadian Forces HMCS Winnipeg, boarded the MV Sun Sea shortly after off the coast of British Columbia. The vessel was brought to port in CFB Esquimalt.
Government of Canada agencies are working together to secure the vessel and are prepared to take the actions needed to protect the safety and security of Canadians. Canada will process the arrival of the vessel in accordance with all of its domestic and international obligations.
