Parliamentary Committee Notes: Listing of Houthis as a terrorist entity
The Government remains concerned with the Houthis’ ongoing attacks against commercial and naval vessels transiting the Red Sea and surrounding waterways.
Canada is exploring all possible measures to constrain the activities of those who would threaten the safety and security of Canadians, in collaboration with allies and like-minded partners. This includes possibly listing the Houthis as a terrorist entity under the Criminal Code, similar to designations enacted in Australia and the U.S.
In the meantime, Canada will continue to support the U.S.-led OP Prosperity Guardian, alongside the U.K., Australia, Bahrain, Denmark, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
