Parliamentary Committee Notes: Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg First Nation State of Emergency
Public Safety Canada is aware of the situation in Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg First Nation.
The community currently receives policing services from the Anishinabek Police Service, which is funded by the First Nations and Inuit Policing Program. Program costs are shared with the province or territory based on a cost-sharing ratio of 52% for the federal government and 48% for the province or territory.
We are committed to continuing to work in good faith with First Nations and Inuit partners, organizations, and communities, and other federal departments to improve community safety, while recognizing that provinces and territories have jurisdiction over operational policing requirements and priorities.
