You are in a preclearance area
Only U.S. preclearance officers and other individuals authorized under Canadian law are permitted in this area.
If you are authorized to be here, please ensure your credentials are visible at all times.
Please also be aware that within the preclearance area U.S. preclearance officers have the authority to:
- Examine the interior of a conveyance stationed for departure to the U.S.
- Examine, search and detain any U.S.- bound goods, including those in the possession of the carrier or transportation facility, such as catering supplies.
- Frisk search any person if they have reasonable grounds to suspect the person is carrying something that would present a danger to human life or safety.
- Order any person to identify themselves and state their reason for being in the area.
- Order any person who is not authorized to be in the preclearance area to leave it.
- Detain a person for transfer to Canadian law enforcement if they have reasonable grounds to believe the person committed an offence under an Act of Parliament.
All individuals must cooperate, or not interfere, with U.S. preclearance officers when they exercise these authorities.
